Size of the Wheel

Most mountain bikes use 26-inch (559 mm) bicycle wheels, though some models offer 24 or 29 in (520 or 622 mm) wheels. Mountain bike wheel sizes are not exact measurements, a 29 inch mountain bike wheel actually has a 622 millimetres (24.5 in) bead seat diameter.

26 inch

The most common size for a mountain bike wheel is a 26-inch clincher tire with inner tube wheels. On the other hand, tubeless tires are growing in popularity. The reason being, tubeless tires give better traction because you ride on lower pressure, thus the tires can absorb shock better.

27" is an older size that was used for road bikes, but since so many bikes were built with this size, it is still available

29 inch

29 inch wheels were once used for only Cross Country purposes, but are now becoming more commonplace in other disciplines of mountain biking, such as trekking, road-racing, touring and hybrid bicycles. A mountain bike with 29" wheels is often referred to as a 29er.

Which ever you choose, remember to provide your mountain bike with optimum wheels and get ready for an awesome ride.
